LOL Obama, Daily 01 February 2010

20100201

The description at Flickr:

President Barack Obama gives his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress in the House Chamber of the U.S. Capitol, Jan. 27, 2010. Captured in the photo is the moment President Obama unveiled his surprising new plan to improve our national economic picture. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)

So, not only am I appropriating images from the White House Flickr Photostream (and I've been too lazy to link back to the originals, I figure folks can figure it out for themselves), but I'm also lifting chunks of their description and subverting them for my own ends. Good thing Government Works aren't covered by copyright laws in the United States.

Woohoo, First Amendment!

When Police Confiscate "X" From Law Abiding Citizens, Then Only Criminals Will Have "X"

The peaceful protesters of the RNC welcoming committee had amongst their 'welcoming' supplies, rocks, throwing stars, flaming liquids, bows, arrows, and . . .

drum roll please . . .

keep rolling . . .

keep rolling . . .

I didn't say to stop . . .

BUCKETS OF URINE

When hoarding buckets of urine is a criminal act, then only criminals (and utter, total, lunatics) will have buckets of urine.

And you know what, I'm perfectly OK with that, I'm going to go out on a limb here, and despite my non-expertise on constitutional law, but I think it's pretty safe to say, that in most cases (images of a crucifix submerged in urine being an obvious exception) urine in of itself does not constitute 'free speech' and is not protected by the first amendment.

UPDATE: There are one group of folks who have legitimate uses for buckets of urine, fullers, but I doubt too many of them are running around St. Paul in 2008.

From Worst Jobs in History (Medieval Period), fulling gets its due at about the 4 minute mark (and continued on the bit below it)

OM, Indeed

Five US state senates to open with Hindu prayers

(I've got no problem with this, Hindus kick ass)

(and lest you think the tenet of ahimsa prevents Hindus from kicking ass, you are sadly mistaken, kicking asses that don't deserve ass kicking is prohibited, but kicking the asses of those who have earned an ass kicking is not only condoned, but heartily encouraged)

(You can practice non-violence without being a pussified pacifist pansies)
