Brings New Meaning to What a 'St. Pauli Girl' Really Is

Hamburg's St. Pauli quarter, the country's largest and most famous red light district, is bubbling with optimism that it could be a bumper season for the legal sex industry.

Drudge, being Drudge, he latches on to this Reuters story highlighting the 'preparations' going on for the upcoming World Cup.


I never knew that St. Pauli Girl was the beer for (or is that brewed by?) prostitutes, now I know.

Having served briefly with the German Navy on an exchange program, I discovered that each of their capital ships (at the time frigates) were sponsored by a brewery.

I grew especially fond of Paulaner aboard the Fregatte Augsburg.

As for the red light districts, Germany certainly has them down to an economic science.
