Only One Month Away

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, reconsidering my positions on important matters, and after meeting a lovely Venezuelan born woman during the pro-immigration rallies this week, who happens to be a fervent supporter of Hugo Chavez, I realize that I've been so very wrong about the joys of socialism.

The big May Day celebrations are only a month away (above some inspirational photos from last year's festivities).

I've renewed my passport, got all my shots, and bought a plane ticket for me and my new novia.

We've decided that we can't let this May 1st go by without a big parade, and comrades joining in a rousing rendition of the Internationale (and unfortunately, even here in Santa Monica, we aren't that progressive yet, but give us time, we'll get there if we work together).

In the meantime, I've started volunteer work at the Santa Monica chapter of Amnesty International. These folks have opened my eyes to all the awful things being done by our awful regime (and those zionist pigs in Israel, too).

Also today is the last day that any animal product crosses my lips and goes in my gullet. Straight vegan for me from now on. I can't believe I was complicit in the murder of all those cattle, chickens, pigs, salmon, rabbit, deer, kangaroo, tuna, ostrich, bison, jellyfish, sea urchin, squid, octopus, sturgeon, turkeys, cornish hens, and shark simply so that I might enjoy a bit of protein.

Not anymore, when I'm not volunteering at Amnesty International, I'll be working with the good folks at PETA (I'll be throwing out all my leather shoes, coats, and pants (I'll really miss my red leather pants, though), naturally).

Back to May Day, I can't wait to celebrate with the good folk of Venezuela as they revel in the worker's paradise that Venezuela has become with the leadership of the brilliant Hugo Chavez.

Naturally I'll be making some changes to this website, too.

Instead of Friday Funk Lyrics, I'll be posting Monday Metal Lyrics, cause you can't ever rock too hard, or bang your head too much.

And I'll be changing up my links a little, here's the first three I'll be adding. Help me out by pointing to other fellow travellers that are spreading the truth and fighting the lies.

DailyKos (Leading the Revolution, Reshaping Democracy)
Democratic Underground (The Truth, The Whole Truth, and Nothing But The Truth)
Eschaton (Sweetness, Light, and Reason)

That's enough for now, this day, one month before May Day, and don't forget to set your clocks back tonight (Spring Back, Fall Forward, that's how it goes, I'm pretty sure, enjoy that extra hour of sleep tonight).

Always remember that the path of the righteous is strewn with the skulls of the infidel.

(Holds hand to XWL's forehead, finds not fever. Begins to worry. Then checks the date)

Well played, sir.

Just got her through Victoria's site, and given the date and the magnitude of your epiphany (as well as the comments from pooh) can only guess this is an April Fools....as such, I second pooh. Very well played.

pet peeve here, and since it's the 2nd I think I'm safe to vent: NEVER call attention to the April Fool's joke. Doing so ruins the experience for the gullible that the joker is hoping to snare. Play along in either agreement or go the other way with over the top self-righteous indignation. April 1 is the one day we should feed the troll, don't step on it and kill the punch line.

Buncha damn hicks. Probably laugh at your own jokes.

Bill, you keep assuming it's an April Fools Joke. Men have done dumber things for women than change their politics, and I hear Venezuelan women are hot. So until he starts running down hippies again I'm assuming it's legit.

My immediate quip was a crude one having to do with getting confused about what's supposed to do your thinking for you ...

... and I'll leave it at that now.
