Michelle Wie's second tournament as a professional is her first as a professional playing against men.
The Casio World Open is on the Japanese men's tour.
Given Japanese views of Koreans, and women for that matter, if she finishes close to the top or even wins the tournament there will be no joy in Kochi.
(but I don't think anyone will go so far as to commit seppuku)

I have first-hand experience from whence you speak, XWL. My ex- has a BA in Japanese (we met in Tokyo while she was an exchange student) and worked as a translator for a number of years, including a three-year stint at Nissan's R&D Center in Detroit. She left the field entirely back in 1995. She'd had enough of the patronizing (at best) and sexist behavior of Japanese businessmen. So much so, in fact, that she refused to even freelance. She teaches English now.
